Lucia is from Slovakia and studied historical sciences at Comenius University in Bratislava, focusing on ethnology, museology, and anthropology. As she discovered the magic hidden in history, she and Funda decided to bring it fully to life through the Ankyra brand — a space where knowledge and creativity go hand in hand.

She is focused on many aspects of our brand — from research, design, and product promotion to sales, administration, and creating small macramé items. Lucia also occasionally models for Ankyra. Her goal is to offer not only beautiful products but also their unique historical significance. Each Ankyra piece tells a story through traditional techniques, meaningful patterns, or thoughtful symbolism. In today’s information-heavy world, she believes balance comes through deep, careful research.

Lucia is fascinated by macramé, both for its simple elegance and its ancient origins with the Babylonians and Assyrians. Her favorite university subjects included the Migration of Nations, Medieval European life, and the ancient history of Greece and Rome. She’s also inspired by the cultural traditions of the Indigenous peoples of the Northwest Coast of North America. She believes there is always something new to learn — and that we should respect knowledge and the universe, as both are greater than any of us.

She was part of a historical group, where she immersed herself in past eras — an experience that continues to fuel her passion. Lucia finds joy in exploring cultures and believes that learning from one another makes us more connected, humble, and human. She believes in the goodness of people and shares that spirit through Ankyra.

Together with Funda, she guides the heart and direction of Ankyra Handmade — always giving her all, to you.
